Why Metrolink MAX?
Transit Coalition and TRAC members and our associates in the
rail advocacy community offer our condolences, prayers and best
wishes to the injured survivors, their families and the families
of the deceased. No words can describe your feelings, just know
that we are thinking of you and are deeply sympathetic. Transit
Coalition and TRAC members will continue to work for better and
safer passenger rail options for California.
Traffic congestion is increasing on highways between Los Angeles
and Orange Counties. I-5 upgrades through the Gateway Cities are
a decade away. Metrolink commuter-oriented rail service parallels
the freeway but is infrequent and has no late-night and sparse
weekend service.
Los Angeles County continues to lag in making Metrolink more convenient
to the passenger. To the south, Orange County will have
Metrolink trains running every 30 minutes by the end of the decade. With some
modest track improvements, the same kind of service can be brought
to the San Fernando Valley, Downtown L.A., San Gabriel Valley and southeast L.A. County.
The Transit Coalition aims to increase Metrolink train frequencies in the Southland to 30 minutes between trains, including late at night and weekends, through our Metrolink MAX campaign! Our mission is to empower you to fight for trains every 30 minutes along the Ventura County, San Bernardino and Antelope
Valley Lines, with regional rail service to other areas of the Southland! Metrolink MAX would yield many great benefits that cannot be attained while Metrolink service remains rush-hour-oriented.
Act Now!
Change will not happen unless those who care ask for improvement.
As a first line of action, we need you to write
a letter to the Metro Board that shows your support of 30-minute
headways on Metrolink trains from Chatsworth to Laguna Niguel
and elsewhere. For greater ease, you can also fill
out postcards and send them off to your respective four Metro
Board members. Your letters can instill interest in regional rail
by bringing it to the attention of transportation leaders.
Help Us Out!
The Transit Coalition will hold its monthly dinner meeting on
Tuesday, October 28. Learn more about
this event and come on over!
Note: Metrolink MAX is not affiliated with Metrolink (Southern California Regional Rail Authority) or Metro (Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority). We do not offer trip planning or customer service. Please visit their respective websites for commuting information.
